  • PRINT

DO
Catch a glimpse of DC’s most infamous stone, the 45.52-carat (and allegedly cursed!) Hope Diamond, on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

EAT
Stop for a light bite to eat at EDGAR inside one of DC’s historic gems, the Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel. The restaurant is named after J. Edgar Hoover, who supposedly ate lunch at the hotel nearly every day for 20 years!

DO
Continue uptown along Connecticut Avenue to the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens, and take in breathtaking views of the estate of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post.  Pieces of Post’s beautiful jewelry are displayed inside the opulent mansion, along with delicate porcelain, priceless Russian religious relics and Faberge eggs.

EAT
Pamper yourself with tasty jamon iberico, rich paellas to share and other delicacies paired with a spicy Rioja or a crisp albarino at the legendary Spanish restaurant, Taberna del Alabardero.

STAY
Head back to the Mayflower Renaissance to pamper yourself with an overnight stay.
