Peanuts, cracker jacks, foul balls (and gloves to catch them), strikeouts, home runs. There are plenty of reasons to see a baseball game with your little ones, but Nationals Park and its festivities and promotions make a trip to the stadium a truly special experience. The summer sun is calling and the kids are restless, so get the family out to a game and you’ll be a big league hero.
In order for the kids to enjoy the ballpark, you have to lock down a solid ticket deal first. On Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season, special Harris Teeter Family Fun Packs are available. Choose from the upper right field terrace or outfield reserved sections and you’ll receive a hot dog, bag of chips and a beverage for every ticket purchased.
After the game, you’ll probably be dreaming of rounding the bases like Nationals phenom Bryce Harper, at full throttle, helmet flying. Well, the little ones probably will be too. After every Sunday home game, kids can line up to run the bases like the pros. All kids aged 4-12 are welcome – unfortunately, big kids (aka adults) will have to practice home run trots at home.
Baseball stadiums have often been referred to as cathedrals and the state-of-the-art Nationals Park is no exception. You can tour this wonder with the family in tow on both gamedays and non gamedays. Gameday visitors get an up close and personal look at the press box, the visiting team dugout, a luxury suite and more. Non gameday tours also include a trip to the Nationals dugout, the visiting team clubhouse (subject to availability) and the chance to throw a pitch in the Nationals bullpen.
The Jr. Nationals Kids Club presented by Harris Teeter is yet another way for kids to engage with the park, the wonderful game of baseball and even players, on special occasions. A $20 MVP Membership gets your little slugger a kit featuring a Screech cap (the notorious team mascot), Nationals shoelaces, free meal coupons, buy one-get one ticket offer and special meet-and-greet opportunities. Kids Club members also benefit from an exclusive line for the Kids Run the Bases experience. Go all the way with this fantastic offer that will pay dividends all season long.
Nothing beats nabbing an autograph from one of your favorite baseball players and then watching him excel on the field. Signature Sundays at Nationals Park give kids this chance. Every home game Sunday, two Nats will sign autographs at the top of the Nationals dugout starting one hour and 10 minutes before first pitch. In order to be there, you’ll need to obtain a free voucher, which are available at first gates (two hours, 30 minutes before first pitch). They’re handed out on a first-come, first-served basis, so turn on the Harper Hustle and get there in time!
