About the Promotion

The Power of Place. People. And our Stories.

Washington, DC has played a powerful role in the Civil War and civil rights movement, from Abraham Lincoln’s landmark election to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s soul-stirring “I Have a Dream” speech.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the war and DC’s unique position in the fight for civil rights, Destination DC has organized “Civil War to Civil Rights” with dozens of attractions, landmarks, organizations and historic sites throughout the capital region. We’ve collected and curated more than 150 inspiring experiences that can only be found in and around the nation’s capital.

Destination DC is the official convention and tourism corporation for Washington, DC.
