how can we help?
tips and tools: WCCA Introduces New Computer-Aided Design Program
Planning an event in the Washington Convention Center? The Washington Convention Center Authority has developed a new computer-aided design program (CAD) to help you determine the best way to utilize space in the 2.3 million sq. ft. building's ballrooms and meeting rooms for large tradeshows and small gatherings alike.
"These updated and pre-configured room layouts will be a real time-saver for event planners," said Doree Mayo, Manager of Event and Meeting Services for the Washington Convention Center. "We used a simple and accessible design for this tool in order to cut down planning time for our customers, making the entire process that much easier."
With the new program, event managers have the benefit of previewing detailed, pre-approved representations of meeting spaces, not only to maximize the available space but also to ensure that every attendee has the best possible seat. As a result, Convention Center staff are able to significantly reduce the amount of time required for final approval.
"We are committed to exceptional service for our clients, and this new planning tool is one more way we can save our customers both time and money," said Mayo.
Mayo led a five-person team responsible for generating the room diagrams using laser measurements to obtain the most accurate space measurements. The project, which Mayo and her team developed over nine months, uses floor plans with clickable menus in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) to display detailed room layouts. The "Room Diagrams" tool is available to event planners and potential clients on the Convention Center website.
