The convention center is also home to the largest art collection of any convention center in the country. The diverse $4 million collection is comprised of 137 pieces of work, including sculptures, photography and paintings, by 93 artists.

Green Scene: The convention center is outfitted with eco-friendly fixtures like low-emission glass that moderates temperature and provides natural lighting, as well as computer-controlled HVAC systems. The center’s Quality Assurance Manager oversees a number of programs to ensure the center stays green, including a comprehensive recycling program and a food composting program. Plus, leftover food from meetings big and small is donated to the DC Central Kitchen.
Creative Cuisine: Catering selections incorporate fresh, local ingredients into classic regional favorites and innovative international cuisine. Choose from popular catering packages or work with the culinary team to develop custom menus for your event.

Did You Know? The Walter E. Washington Convention Center holds the Guinness World Record for hosting the largest sit-down dinner in 2009, with 16,206 people.
