Reopened late last year after an $85 million renovation, the National Museum of American History Museum houses treasures like the original Star-Spangled Banner, Lincoln’s stovepipe hat and a collection of First Ladies’ inaugural gowns. Some of the museum’s most famous artifacts also appear in the film, including Archie Bunker’s chair, Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, plus other pop culture must-sees, like Muhammad Ali’s boxing gloves, the Star Wars droids and Kermit the Frog. americanhistory.si.edu

Behind the Scenes Secret: While there were more than one pair of ruby red slippers used during filming “The Wizard of Oz,” the only pair available for public viewing is on display at the National Museum of American History.
