For Film Crews: Destination DC works in conjunction with the DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development to assist film crews developing travel and lifestyle-related programming featuring Washington, DC. For city permit applications, production resource guides, crew lists and more information on filming in Washington, DC visit film.dc.gov. Permits are required to film on the National Mall and at other DC locations operated by the National Park Service. Note that tripods are not allowed in the interior spaces of the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. Please contact the National Park Service’s public affairs office at (202) 619-7225 to request a permit application. In order to film on the grounds of the US Capitol, you must receive permission from the US Capitol Police. Contact the US Capitol Police Public Information Office at (202) 224-1677 for more information. For photographers: Professional photographers who wish to use a tripod on the National Mall or at other DC locations operated by the National Park Service must obtain a permit from the National Park Service. Call (202) 619-7225 to request an application. Tripods are allowed everywhere on the National Mall, with the exception of the interior spaces of the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. Photographers who wish to use a tripod on the grounds of the US Capitol must obtain advance permission from the US Capitol Police.
