DC DISH: NEW RESTAURANTS

While downtown DC continues to open new places like chocolate lovers' favorite Coco Sala (929 F St. NW) and a new location for Modern American favorite Corduroy (1122 9th St. NW, 202-589-0699), DC's red-hot restaurant scene is also gathering steam in other neighborhoods.

Capitol Hill is buzzing about more than just the presidential elections. There's an influx of new eateries, with more on the way.

  • For burgers, fries, and homemade shakes, there's Good Stuff Eatery (303 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, 202-289-4035), a new venture from Chef Spike, who earned acclaim on the Bravo network's Top Chef Chicago. The restaurant plans to open June 1.
  • Downtown DC's top choice for pizza and mini-burgers, Matchbox opens its second DC location at 521 8th St. SE this summer.
  • On the other side of the Capitol, 2020 Martini plans to open at 1626 N. Capitol St. in the Brightwood neighborhood. Specializing in brick oven pizzas, the three-level restaurant also boasts a pasta bar, sushi bar, martini bar and rooftop deck, with live entertainment and dancing.

In Georgetown, fans of eco-friendly seafood hotspot Hook are raving about Chef Barton Seaver's latest creation, Tackle Box (3245 M St. NW). The casual seafood takeout place is modeled after a New England lobster shack, serving up seaside favorites like clam chowder, peel-and-eat shrimp and more.

The Columbia Heights neighborhood welcomes a pair of new eateries this spring, including one from one of DC's favorite chefs, Jamie Leeds, known for her Dupont Circle hotspot, Hank's Oyster Bar. Her latest venture is Commonwealth, a British-inspired "gastropub" opening this summer at the corner of 14th and Irving Sts. It joins the newly-opened Pete's A Pizza (1400 Irving St. NW, 202-333-PETE), which is rapidly building a fan base for its New Haven-style pies and environmentally-friendly practices.

Coming later this summer to the Logan Circle neighborhood are Posto (1515 14th St. NW), which plans to serve northern Italian fare prepared from locally-procured vegetables and meats and Policy (1902-1904 14th St. NW), a two-level eatery currently under construction. Foodies will find seasonal American fare on one floor and sushi on the second floor.
