Date Nights DC Woos Visitors With 40+ Unique Deals Throughout February

Washington.org Inspires Mid-Winter Getaways with 40+ Consumer Discounts, 101 Date Ideas, Contest

(Washington, DC) – For the seventh consecutive year, Destination DC, the official marketing and tourism office for the nation’s capital, hosts Date Nights DC, a regional campaign inspiring mid-winter getaways throughout the month of February. The 2016 promotion bundles more than 40 unique deals and discounts offered by Washington, DC hotels, restaurants, theaters, attractions and tours, as well as 29 proposal-ready spots and 101 date-worthy itineraries tailored to couples, families and friends.

Playfully tagged “Upgrade your date night,” Date Nights DC marries the allure of the capital’s beloved attractions with the city’s new and under-the-radar experiences to create budget-friendly winter getaways. The campaign targets travelers within a three-hour drive of the nation’s capital. The promotion will debut January 11, 2016 with an ad-buy supporting 18 million Mid-Atlantic impressions as well as an original commercial and a web-enabled sweepstakes. Date Nights DC offers are presented on DateNightsDC.org, a dedicated microsite, as well as Destination DC’s website, Washington.org. The contest, date ideas and user generated contributions will be filtered by #DateNightsDC on @visitwashingtondc, the city’s Instagram channel.

“Travel experts from across the country including U.S. News & World Report and Los Angeles Times, tapped Washington, DC a must-visit city in 2016,” says Elliott L. Ferguson, president and CEO of Destination DC. “Date Nights DC rewards travelers eager to experience our excitement with discounts. Book a package on Thursday, spend your weekend eating, sleeping, playing and reconnecting in Washington, DC.”

Playing at select movie theaters throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, NYC, Philadelphia and Baltimore, the 2016 Date Nights DC commercial teases an easy-to-follow weekend itinerary for two: flirt in the listening stations at Som Records; be seduced by “Wonder” at the Smithsonian’s recently reopened Renwick Gallery; glide around the ice rink inside the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden; dine at Ten 01 on H Street’s buzzing restaurant row and start a pillow fight on sleepover at the Dupont Circle Hotel. The website has 101 additional itineraries to help visitors plan like a local.

More than 40 Destination DC members have created Date Nights DC packages that sweeten mid-winter getaways in Washington, DC, including:

Hotels: “Leaping for Love” woos guests at 11 DC-area Kimpton hotels with perks. Customers who pay $10 above the best rate receive a $30 credit to be used as they wish during their stay (on site bars, in-room dining, parking, spa) at The Carlyle Dupont Circle; The Donovan; The George; Hotel Madera; Hotel Palomar Washington DC; Hotel Rouge; Lorien Hotel and Spa; Monaco Alexandria; Monaco DC; Morrison House and Topaz Hotel. Also, the recently renovated JW Marriott offers an upgraded room with sweeping views of DC, as well as Champagne service, in-room breakfast and late check-out starting at $219/night.

Relax with cocktail by the outdoor fire pit at the tony Westend Bistro or indulge in a four-course feast at the City Club of Washington. In Georgetown, ENO Wine Bar offers flights paired with truffles, as well as bubbles and chocolate fondue at a discount Feb. 13 and 14.

Museums and Attractions: Two-for-one admission to the Phillips Collection’s “Seeing Nature.” The Newseum offers “A Tour and a Toast,” a 90-minute private guided tour for two followed by happy hour sips at Wolfgang Puck’s The Source, the museum’s high-end eatery.
Participating museums and attractions also include: Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Museum; Escape Room Live; National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Tours: Entertainment Cruises offer Valentine-theme brunch, lunch and dinner with panoramic views of the Potomac, Georgetown, Arlington and many of DC’s famous monuments. CitySights has a “Double Decker Date Night,” a three-hour tour of the monuments at night.
