The nation’s capital is one of the most diverse—and welcoming—cities in the world. At once an international crossroads and an all-American hometown, Washington, DC is home to people and preferences from every color of the rainbow.

Drag queens add sass to the annual Capital Pride parade, the center piece of the annual ten-day GLBT celebration. An estimated 100,000 people turned out for the parade and another 250,000 for the street festival in 2012.

In 2010, DC  became the sixth place in the nation to legalize same-sex marriages. Numerous national GLBT organizations including the Human Rights Campaign are headquartered in DC, many engaging with community events like Capital Pride.
