Is Washington, DC a thriving global capital with power lunches and powerful egos?

Yes. Of course.

Does that mean Washington, DC is all marble, museums and monuments? Absolutely not!

Washingtonians are cosmopolitan hybrids who welcome one and all, day and night. Make it serious or make it light - or make it something in between.

What draws most visitors to Washington, DC again and again is the vibrant, accessible and world-class city from inspiring monuments to monumental arts and culture - and the stimulating, educated and diverse GLBT communities among us. Washington, DC: The best of all worlds!

The nation's capital is more than the hustle of press conferences and international summits, power suits, policy and politics. Dig just a little deeper to get beyond C-SPAN and "The West Wing."

Washington, DC is a town - neither northern nor southern, sometimes urban, sometimes country and often soulful - where gays and lesbians, bisexuals and trans people actually live, work and play with our families and friends and co-workers. Just a 10 minute walk beyond the monumental corridor and government buildings will allow you to discover hometown Washington: a thriving, gay, lively and cultured capital city.

From people watching in Dupont Circle and Georgetown to power watching on Capitol Hill; from the high-heeled drag race on 17th Street to the drag-queen brunches of Adams Morgan; from the crazy funky stores of U Street to the crazy happy hours at JR's, Washington, DC has unique windows and doorways for the GLBT visitor. Wherever you choose to visit in Washington, DC, just remember to stay on the right side of the Metro escalators to avoid looking like a tourist!
