This citywide event invites participants to experience a global journey without ever leaving the city. With more than 50 embassy open houses, visitors have the rare opportunity to step inside and learn about international cultures through tours, performances and other family-friendly activities. Howard Theatre

Howard Theatre: Washington, DC recently welcomed The Howard Theatre back to the city’s arts and cultural community. Older than the Apollo Theatre and the launching pad for many famous artists including Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye and the Supremes, the Howard Theatre underwent a multi-million dollar restoration and now stands proudly once again. Space Shuttle Discovery

The Smithsonian Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (just outside of DC in Virginia) is the new home of Space Shuttle Discovery, NASA’s longest-serving orbiter with 39 flights between 1984 and 2011. Part of the world-famous National Air & Space Museum, Udvar-Hazy also features the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, along with a viewing area for the runways at Dulles Airport and an IMAX Theater.
