  • The 22nd annual Rolling Thunder bike rally pays homage to the nation's veterans, particularly those still missing in action or prisoners of war.
  • At 8 pm, catch the National Symphony Orchestra’s Memorial Day concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, co-hosted by Gary Sinise and Joe Mantenga, with an all-star line-up of dignitaries and performers including Trace Adkins, Katharine McPhee and Gen. Colin Powell (Ret.). The performance is free and no tickets are required. Gates open at 5 pm.
Monday, May 25:
  • A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Air Force Memorial starting at 9 am. A keynote speech will be given by Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, Rodney J. McKinley.
  • At 11 am and 1:30 pm, wreath-laying ceremonies will take place at the U.S. Navy Memorial, followed by the Navy Band concert at 12:30 pm and a film screening of a PBS documentary about the last reunion of Air Group 16 at the dedication of the WWII Memorial at 2:00 pm.
  • A Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony and concert will be held at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery at 11 am.
  • A Presentation of the Colors and wreath-laying service will take place at 1 pm at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • The National Memorial Day Parade will march down Constitution Ave. starting on 7th St. NW at 2 pm, featuring marching bands and veterans units from all 50 states, hosted by Gary Sinise, Ernest Borgnine, Lee Greenwood and Edith Shane.
