Fairfax Swing Jazz Band (Community Band) Directed by Tony Aversano

Director Tony Aversano has been a Trumpeter in the Washington Metro Area for over twenty Five Years. Tony was brought to the Washington area as Trumpeter for the US Navy Band. After a four year tour with the Navy, he began teaching high school band, orchestra & choir at Marshall High School, Chantilly High School & Shenandoah Conservatory.

The Fairfax Swing Jazz Ensemble is in its fourth season now. The Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Anthony W. Aversano & Bill Schnepper was formed as an extension of the Fairfax Wind Symphony, founded by and under the baton of director Stan Schoonover in the fall of 1999.  In addition to presenting local concerts, the Fairfax Swing Jazz Ensemble has been featured at the 2013 & 2015 & 2016 "National Jazz Workshop" hosted by Shenandoah University, the 2014 James Madison University Summer Music Camp for aspiring musicians, educators and future jazz audiences with rave response and incredibly spirited performances at the famous BLUES ALLEY in 2014 & 2015 with another “Gala” night anticipated again this year, July 18th, 2016!
