The teams behind The Red Hen and Boundary Stone teamed up to bring you All-Purpose Pizzeria, serving antipasti, wine, cocktails, and deck oven-fired pizza in the heart of downtown D.C.
The restaurant, located just steps from the Washington Convention Center, features a straightforward Roman menu accented with Italian-American classics in a casual space.
Pizza is at the heart of Chef Mike Friedman's menu, where he has created a distinctive dough that captures the breadier qualities of old-school deck oven pizzas. Growing up in New Jersey, he pays homage to the pizzerias of his youth with dishes like the Antipasta Salad, iceberg, salami, sweet hots, olives, caciocavallo oregano vinaigrette, Calamari Fritto, and Don's Meatball Surprise. Pies include seasonal takes like the Seaside, with littleneck clams, white clam sauce, sweet corn, smoked guanciale and parm; along with menu staples such as the Buona, with tomato, pepperoni, mozzarella, chili honey, basil and grana.
The menu also offers a selection of salumi and bruschetta, as well as hot and cold antipasti and reimagined mains such as the Eggplant Parm. The lunch menu introduces Jersey-style sandwiches into the mix. We offer a tightly curated 50-bottle wine list of American and Italian varietals, as well as regional beers and hand-selected craft spirits, plus desserts masterminded by Tiffany MacIsaac, Pastry Chef/Owner of Buttercream Bakeshop, which resides right next door. All-Purpose is open for lunch and dinner.
