The Military Women's Memorial is a premier visitor destination in the National Capital Region. In addition to it's beautiful, award-winning architecture, the Memorial, located at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and just a short walk from the Lincoln Memorial, honors the 3+ million women who have served and are serving in and with the US Armed Forces. The Memorial's neoclassical façade and hemicycle with sprawling plaza is a special place for remembrance. At the center, the beautiful fountain, which represents the collective voice of women veterans, and the pool are special places for visitors to reflect. Step inside to the Education Center, which boasts 33,000 sqft. consisting of an exhibit gallery, gift shop, event space, Hall of Honor, and Register. Our exhibits chronicle women's service from the American Revolution through present day. A surprise to many, stories of service include women who disguised themselves as men to serve their nation. At certain times during the day, visitors enjoy a special treat - the reflection of quotes by and about servicewomen that shine down on the marble walls from glass tablets. Throughout the year, the Memorial hosts special events, to include Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, as well as special programs and exhibits. One of our best-kept secrets - the Memorial's terrace has some of the best views in the area.
