Maria Sharmin

Hello, my name is Maria and I’m a senior at Woodrow Wilson Senior High School. I am currently an intern at the American Experience Foundation through a partnership with Urban Alliance.

Every month until my internship ends in July, I’ll be bringing you news of what’s happening with AEF. Please keep an eye out for our newsletter.

I’m very interested in interning with AEF because I want to major in Hospitality and Tourism when I’m in college. So far, I really enjoy it here because I’ve learned so much about how a destination marketing organization works. My dream job is to be an event coordinator because I love to organize, be creative and multitask. I also love to work with kids and help people.

I enjoy spending my free time volunteering at nonprofits such as Higher Achievement and the Young Women’s Project. At Higher Achievement, I tutor fifth graders to help them reach proficiency in Math and English. At the Young Women’s Project, I help promote good health by passing out educational materials. I like volunteering at these places because I enjoy helping others and connecting with my community.

If you see me at an AEF event, please come say hi!
