Summer FREEDOM Highlights Seasonal Vacation Savings in Washington, DC
Discounts include third-night-free hotel stays, free parking and breakfast

(Washington, DC) After months of rising gas prices, Destination DC, the official convention and tourism corporation for Washington, DC, introduces a promotion that eases the cost of an unforgettable summer holiday in the nation’s capital. Summer FREEdom is a virtual coupon book of 35 discounts and free offers that help leisure travelers save money.
Summer FREEdom deals will be available between Memorial Day and Labor Day (Monday, May 28-Monday, September 3, 2012). Destination DC has engaged 18 hotels and 17 attraction partners to offer family-friendly discounts. Several hotels including the Savoy Suites and Carlyle Suites will offer a third-night free. Other properties enhance already competitive room rates with additional values such as free parking, breakfast and/or Wi-Fi. Attractions as varied as the Monuments by Moonlight tour by Capital Yacht Charters and D.C. United, the city’s MLS team, offer discounts of 50% off admission. Washington is an ideal place for family travel. DC was voted the #1 walking city in America, and exploring the city’s 12 distinctive neighborhoods is made easier by great public transportation options like the Circulator bus and Metro. To encourage visitors to see all the sights, Destination DC will gift each online reservation with two (2) free $10 Metro SmarTrip cards.

Many attractions have been inspired to create family-focused packages steeped in value including:
• Old Town Trolley Tours has teamed up for a day of adventure and savings. Buy a one-day tour ticket and receive discounted admission to the International Spy Museum and lunch (a sandwich, drink and chips) at Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
• The Newseum will waive its admission prices for all youth visitors, age 18 and under (regularly $12.95), between Sunday, July 1 and Monday, September 3. Up to six kids can visit free with each paid adult admission.
• Buy one full-price ticket to a D.C. United game on August 4th, 22nd, or 29th and receive a second ticket free.
This summer, Washington, DC is especially rich with family-friendly festivals and special exhibitions. Highlights include: “The Art of Video Games” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum (thru September 13); DC Jazz Festival (June 1-13); The Source Festival (June 10-July 3; the Smithsonian Folklife Festival (June 27-July 1 and July 4-8); the PGA’s AT&T National (June 28-July 1); and the ATP Citi Open (July 28-August 5) in Rock Creek Park.
