#WashingtonDC will welcome the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) 75th Anniversary Summit this July 9-11! 🙌 To fuel the excitement, #DestinationDC joined Events DC, the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO leaders and four acclaimed DC chefs in Brussels, Belgium to offer a taste of the nation's capital. 🎉 Thanks to our chefs: 🍴 Chef Daniella Senior Alvarez, CEO & founder of Colada Shop 🍴 Chef Jerome Grant, three-time James Beard Award nominee 🍴 Chef Johnny Spero, of the Michelin-starred Reverie and Bar Spero 🍴Chef Kevin Tien of Moon Rabbit, a five-time James Beard Award nominee and 2023 RAMMYS Chef of the Year The chefs, all members of the Culinary Diplomacy Program, participated in community engagement and service projects while there. Today, April 16, #DestinationDC celebrates DC Emancipation Day to commemorate the Compensated Emancipation Act of 1862, which freed over 3,100 enslaved persons in #WashingtonDC. As we honor our history, we look forward to a hopeful future with statehood for the nation's capital.
