Some DC venues offer school groups and others the chance to perform. The following provides details on where and when your group may be able to perform.

Location Name: Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center
Description: Every day of the year at 6 pm, the Kennedy Center hosts a free performance as part of its "Performing Arts for Everyone" initiative. No tickets are required, though seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Featuring local, national, and international talents, the Millennium Stage has been hailed as "a cultural institution within a cultural institution" by the Washington Post. Millenium Stage is also available for group rental.

Location Name: National Park Services - National Mall and Memorial Parks
Description: Park areas administered by this office include National Mall and Memorial Parks, President’s Park, Rock Creek Park, National Capital Parks-East, George Washington Memorial Parkway, Manassas National Battlefield Park, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Prince William Forest Park, Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, and the portion of Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park from Georgetown to the Monocacy River Aqueduct. Note that some of these listed parks may directly issue certain permits. Please refer to the attached document link titled "How and where to apply for specific types of permits" to determine what office you should contact for your particular permit needs.

Please note that all applications (for public gatherings), unless determined to be a First Amendment activity, must be accompanied by a $50.00 payment for initial processing. The application processing cost represents the average costs incurred by the park in mailing, distribution and initial review of applications to make sure the information supplied is sufficient to inform a decision. Payment of application costs may be in the form of check, money order, or credit card.

This office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., holidays excepted.

Price Range: $50 application fee plus fees associated with event. These fees will be worked out after permit application has been turned in.

Location Name: National Park Services - National Sylvan Theatre
Description:

Sylvan Theatre is an outdoor amphitheater on the National Mall in Washington, DC located at the northwest corner of 15th Street and Independence Avenue near the base of the Washington Monument. The site is a popular venue for a wide range of events including free concerts and live theatrical performances, commemorative ceremonies, rallies and protests. The closest Metro stations are Smithsonian and Federal Triangle.

Applications (for public gatherings, special events, and demonstrations), unless determined to be a First Amendment activity, must be accompanied by a $50.00 payment for initial processing. With its 96' barrel-vaulted, coffered ceiling accented with gold leaf, arched portals adorned with Roman Legionnaires and marble floor, Main Hall is a dramatic backdrop. Modeled after the Public Baths of Diocletian, Rome, Main hall is available evenings for 2,200 guests seated, 4,000 guests standing and up to 7,500 guests when used in conjunction with other event spaces in Union Station.
