DC Bird Alliance

Take a Walk on the Wild Side - Explore DC with DC Bird Alliance

DC is for the birds - and we mean that in the best way.

From the bright flash of an Eastern Bluebird to the quiet glide of a Great Blue Heron, Washington, DC is home to more than 300 bird species across its parks, rivers, and green spaces. Whether you’re wandering the National Mall, exploring Rock Creek Park or discovering hidden gems along the Anacostia River, there’s always something to see - and hear - in the trees, skies and water.

DC Bird Alliance offers welcoming, community-centered bird walks that invite you to slow down and experience the city in a new way. Our walks are beginner-friendly and led by passionate guides who help you notice the details you might otherwise miss - birdsong, seasonal migration, and the subtle rhythms of the natural world.

Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or you call DC home, birding offers a unique way to connect with the city’s landscapes, neighborhoods, and communities.

Come see what’s here. The birds are waiting.
