Fairfax Symphony - Mozart's Last Year
May 23, 2027. Starting: 4:00 PM
Mozart’s final year becomes a musical story in this immersive concert from the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Christopher Zimmerman and narrated by Bill Barclay. Letters from 1791 trace the composer’s remarkable last months alongside music that reveals both sparkle and shadow: the overture to The Magic Flute, the Clarinet Concerto featuring FSO principal clarinet Patrick Morgan, and the unfinished Requiem, whose stark intensity is familiar to many from the film "Amadeus". The Washington Master Chorale Chamber Chorus joins the orchestra, bringing added depth to a program that pairs vivid personal context with the sweep of Mozart’s late works.
