3 Things to Look For: (1) Straight ahead: The beautiful central fountain that lights up at night; (2) to the right and to the left: the Atlantic and Pacific triumphal arches on the northern and southern ends of the memorial representing the two theaters in World War II; (3) straight ahead: the Freedom Wall, which features 4,048 gold stars – or one for every 100 Americans who perished in the war.
