Los Angeles duo After—vocalist Justine Dorsey and producer Graham Epstein—make pop that feels like a half-remembered favorite from the early 2000s, refreshed with trip-hop atmosphere and electronic textures. Their sound draws on a wide range of influences, from Michelle Branch to Portishead, moving between the buoyant “Outbound,” the dreamlike “Deep Diving” and the more shadowed “Ever.” Onstage, Dorsey’s airy vocals meet Epstein’s loops and synths, with live drums adding momentum to the pair’s carefully layered sound. The result is nostalgic without being a simple throwback: familiar pop contours opening into something hazier and more mysterious.
