Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
Last season Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater inspired audiences with three vivid programs celebrating its 60th anniversary. Dynamic new works from choreographers like Artistic Director Robert Battle, Ronald K. Brown, and Wayne McGregor intermixed with treasures from Aileys rich body of choreography for programs both timeless and revolutionary. Audiences experienced the companys first-ever two-act ballet Lazarus, a Kennedy Center co-commission created by acclaimed Hip Hop choreographer Rennie Harris, as well as Revelations, Aileys masterpiece of hope and redemption.
For its annual Kennedy Center engagement this season, the beloved company will continue to push the art form into fascinating new territory, with multiple programs as unique and phenomenal as the dancers themselves. This spiritually riveting (DC Metro Theater Arts) company never fails to remind us of the power of dance and its ability to unite people from all walks of life.
