Ayra Starr

Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr brings a fresh, self-assured voice to Afropop, weaving Afrobeats and R&B into songs that move between buoyant hooks and candid reflection. Her debut album, 19 & Dangerous, introduced the coming-of-age confidence of “Bloody Samaritan,” while “Rush” became an international breakthrough and earned a Grammy nomination. On her second album, The Year I Turned 21, she traces love, ambition and personal change across a vivid, episode-like collection. Starr’s music pairs dance-ready rhythms with a distinctly personal point of view, giving familiar favorites and newer songs room to land with both energy and feeling.
