Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Alsop Conducts Tchaikovskys Pathétique
Now - Oct 17, 2026. Starting: 8:00 PM
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director Laureate Marin Alsop, brings together three works shaped by remembrance and deep feeling. Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” opens with its unmistakable, slowly rising lines, followed by John Adams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning On the Transmigration of Souls, a choral and orchestral work created in response to September 11. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique,” closes the program with a searching emotional arc that moves from restless energy to a hushed finale. The result is a thoughtful encounter with music that gives grief, memory and resilience room to be heard.
