Gillian Welch and David Rawlings

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings make roots music that feels at once timeworn and freshly alive. Welch’s clear, unadorned voice and finely observed songwriting meet Rawlings’ nimble guitar work and harmonies in songs shaped by folk, bluegrass and country traditions. Their long-running collaboration spans The Harrow & The Harvest and All the Good Times, the latter earning a Grammy, as did their 2024 album Woodland. The duo’s quiet, closely woven approach gives the songs room to unfold: listen for the lyrical detail, the guitar interplay and the way a spare arrangement can hold a whole story.
