Gregory Porter

Gregory Porter is a jazz and soul singer-songwriter whose warm, resonant baritone carries the intimacy of gospel and the ease of classic jazz. Raised in Bakersfield, California, he grew up singing in church and listening to his mother’s Nat King Cole records—an influence he later explored on Nat King Cole & Me. His breakthrough album Liquid Spirit and follow-up Take Me to the Alley each earned a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album; his work also ranges from the love-centered songs of ALL RISE to the Disclosure collaboration “Holding On.” Porter’s music pairs thoughtful, personal songwriting with a rich vocal sound that invites close listening.
