Grupo Niche

Founded in Bogotá in 1979 by songwriter and bandleader Jairo Varela, Grupo Niche grew into one of Colombia’s defining salsa orchestras, later making Cali its home base. Its sound pairs vibrant brass and percussion with romantic storytelling and rhythms rooted in Colombia’s Pacific coast. The group’s signature song, “Cali Pachanguero,” became an enduring ode to its adopted city; its landmark album Cielo de Tambores also brought listeners “Una Aventura” and “Busca por Dentro.” Grupo Niche’s award-winning legacy lives on in music made for singing along, moving to the groove and sharing across generations.
