Heavens to Betsy

Heavens to Betsy is the Olympia, Washington punk duo of singer-guitarist Corin Tucker and drummer Tracy Sawyer, whose fierce, stripped-down sound helped shape the riot grrrl underground of the early 1990s. Their 1994 album Calculated pairs jagged guitar and driving drums with unflinching songs such as “My Red Self,” “Firefly” and “Terrorist.” After more than three decades apart, Tucker and Sawyer returned to the stage in 2026, bringing renewed attention to music that still feels direct and unvarnished. The duo’s compact, guitar-and-drums attack makes its intensity—and the force of its songs—impossible to miss.
