Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels at American University Eagles Mens Basketball

Mary Baldwin’s Fighting Squirrels bring a young NCAA Division III men’s basketball program with a championship breakthrough to the court. In 2024, just their third season as an intercollegiate team, they won their first USA South tournament title, defeating Greensboro 72–62 before earning a place in the NCAA Division III tournament. The Fighting Squirrels name draws on a squirrel in the family crest of university namesake Mary Julia Baldwin, and mascot Baldwin has represented MBU athletics since 2019. Their matchup with American offers a chance to see a program still building its history, now with a conference crown among its early milestones.
