A Midsummer Nights Dream (Young Prose Night)

William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream turns romantic misfires into a fantastical comedy, as four young Athenians flee into a forest where feuding fairies meddle with their affections. A love potion sends the couples’ feelings spinning, while a troupe of amateur actors rehearses a play of its own—and one performer undergoes a startling transformation. In this production, director Simon Godwin brings the enchanted woodland to life with puppets designed and directed by master puppeteer Basil Twist, whose work includes My Neighbour Totoro and Petrushka. The mix of tangled romance, fairy mischief and theatrical mishaps makes Shakespeare’s dreamworld a lively delight.
