Prayers

Prayers is the San Diego project of vocalist Rafael Reyes, also known as Leafar Seyer, and electronic musician Dave Parley, whose sound they describe as “cholo goth.” Dark, pulsing synths and post-punk textures meet Reyes’ stark lyrics, drawing on street life and Mexican American identity. Their album Young Gods, produced by Travis Barker, includes “From Dog to God” and “Goth Gang”; later, they joined original Christian Death members for the EP Cursed Be Thy Blessings. Prayers’ music brings shadowy, danceable electronics together with an unflinching personal voice.
