The Seldom Scene and Dry Branch Fire Squad

Since forming in Maryland in 1971, The Seldom Scene has helped stretch bluegrass beyond its traditional songbook, bringing fresh string-band arrangements to country, folk and rock favorites. Dry Branch Fire Squad, founded by mandolinist Ron Thomason in 1976, draws on bluegrass, old-time and Southern gospel, with Thomason’s wry storytelling adding a playful counterpoint to the music.
