Celebrate 250 Years of American Style at DC's Urban Living Rooms Exhibit
Located in CityCenterDC's iconic Palmer Alley, Urban Living Rooms explores 250 years of American style through seventeen suspended "rooms" that celebrate the many cultures, traditions, and influences that have shaped life in the United States.
Inspired by the living room as a space for gathering, storytelling, and self-expression, each installation offers a unique glimpse into the histories, identities, and creative influences that define American culture. Together, the rooms create a collective portrait of a nation shaped by diversity, exchange, and reinvention.
From afar, the installation appears as a unified composition. Up close, it reveals a rich collection of individual narratives, inviting visitors to explore the many stories that make up the American experience.
