Please note that the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum will be closed for renovations from March 15, 2019 through mid-October 2019. The renovations will include enhancing the museum’s accessibility, parking and main entrance. The popular "Right to the City" exhibition on gentrification has been reproduced into satellite exhibits on view in DC Public Library branches in Mt. Pleasant, Anacostia, Woodridge and Shaw. The Southwest exhibition will open late in the Spring and the Chinatown location is to be announced. Public programs on the exhibits and on museum initiatives are being hosted by the Library and other partner organizations. Information on the exhibits and program schedules can be obtained at anacostia.si.edu.

This museum documents and interprets the effect of historical and contemporary social and cultural issues on communities. It features dynamic changing exhibitions and public programs.
