George Washington's Mount Vernon

The iconic riverside estate of George Washington. Open daily, 365 days a year.

George Washington's Mount Vernon is the riverside home of our nation's first president, George Washington. The estate includes a Mansion, four gardens and historic outbuildings where enslaved people made tools and textiles, cared for livestock, and processed food.

At the New Tomb, guests can visit the final resting place of George and Martha Washington, where wreath-laying ceremonies take place year-round. George Washington's Mount Vernon is open 365 days a year.

Mount Vernon is embarking on a multi-year preservation project to safeguard George Washington’s Mansion for generations to come. As work progresses through the house, individual rooms will be taken off display temporarily. Visit mountvernon.org/mansion250 for details.
