National Air and Space Museum

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum is one of the world's premier aviation and aerospace museums.

Located on the National Mall, the Museum celebrates the achievements, innovations, and creativity of human flight and space exploration. It's collection on display includes some of the first, the last, the only, and the most significant aviation and aerospace artifacts, including the 1903 Wright Flyer, the Apollo 11 Command Module "Columbia" and Neil Armstrong's Spacesuit, Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Vega, Charles Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis," and the last-remaining World War I-era Sopwith Camel.

The museum also celebrates people, including pilots, engineers, astronomers, artists, and others who have helped us look up and take to the skies.

Engagement abounds at the Museum. Free guided tours are offered daily on a walk-up basis. Museum Explainers and education volunteers provide engaging STEM-related presentations and demonstrations throughout the day.

Visitors can also enjoy films and shows in the Northrop Grumman Planetarium and Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater.

Story time for younger visitors and daytime solar observations through filtered telescopes are offered weekly, and other programs including family days, lectures, and "after hours" events occur throughout the year.

Museum entry is free. Timed-entry passes are required and may be reserved up to two months in advance online.
