The American Chemical Society is the world’s largest scientific society with more than 200,000 in the global membership community worldwide across the chemistry enterprise, including industry, academia, and government. A not-for-profit organization chartered by Congress in 1876, ACS works with the government to promote public policies that help its members and other practitioners serve the nation and the global community. ACS has over 20 public policy statements that aim to foster innovation through research & technology; strengthen science education & scientific workforce; advance science through openness; and promote science and sustainability in public policy.
