Attractions:
Attractions must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome China certified:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
 - Chinese language map/materials/subtitles
 - Chinese language content on website
 - Chinese language tour options
 - Mandarin speaking staff, clearly identifiable
 - Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese culture and etiquette
 - Free and easily accessible Wi-Fi (with either one click or clear instructions with screenshots)
 - Booking available in Chinese or through a Chinese OTA
 - Accept a form of Chinese payment – WeChat pay, Alipay or UnionPay
 - Active Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Weibo, etc.)
 - Chinese food/drink options (if applicable)
 
Hotels:
Hotels must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome China certified:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
 - Chinese language map/materials/subtitles
 - Chinese language content on website
 - Free and easily accessible Wi-Fi (with either one click or clear instructions with screenshots)
 - Smoking areas/rooms with clear signage
 - Inclusive room rates (breakfast, tax, Wi-Fi, etc.)
 - Chinese language reservation capability or the ability to book through a Chinese OTA
 - Accept a form of Chinese payment – WeChat pay, Alipay or UnionPay
 - RMB exchange services
 - Mandarin speaking staff, clearly identifiable
 - Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese culture and etiquette
 - Provide hot water/Chinese tea in guest rooms
 - Provide robes and slippers in room
 - Provide free bottles of water in rooms
 - Provide international adaptors
 - Chinese language TV channels/newspaper
 - Chinese breakfast and/or room service options
 - Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Weibo, etc.)
 
Restaurants:
Restaurants must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome China certified:
- Mandarin speaking staff, clearly identifiable
 - Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese culture and etiquette
 - Offer hot water to Chinese clients, as well as beverages without ice
 - Chinese language menu OR a menu with photos of the food
 - Free and easily accessible Wi-Fi (with either one click or clear instructions with screenshots)
 - Accept any form of Chinese payment – WeChat pay, Alipay or UnionPay
 - Give a receipt with suggested gratuity
 - Chinese language content on website
 
Retailers:
Retailers must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome China certified:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
 - Chinese language map/materials
 - Chinese language content on website
 - Mandarin speaking staff, clearly identifiable
 - Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese culture and etiquette
 - Free and easily accessible Wi-Fi (with either one click or clear instructions with screenshots)
 - Chinese food/drink options (if applicable)
 - Accept any form of Chinese payment – WeChat pay, Alipay or UnionPay
 - Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Weibo, etc.)
 
Sightseeing & Transportation:
Sightseeing and transportation companies must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome China certified:
- Chinese language materials (brochures, map, website, subtitles)
 - Chinese language tour options (audio or in-person)
 - Mandarin speaking staff, clearly identifiable
 - Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese culture and etiquette
 - Booking available in Chinese or through a Chinese OTAs
 - Accept any form of Chinese payment – WeChat pay, Alipay or UnionPay
 - Tip expectations clearly indicated in pricing
 - Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Weibo, etc.)
