Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - The Music of Joe Hisaishi

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra brings Joe Hisaishi’s music to life in a program led by conductor Jiannan Cheng. Best known for his beloved Studio Ghibli film scores, Hisaishi has also composed more than 100 film scores and created concert works shaped by minimalist, symphonic and Japanese classical traditions. His music for "My Neighbor Totoro", "Spirited Away" and "Howl’s Moving Castle" moves between delicate melodies and sweeping orchestral color, while his concert music reveals a broader creative range. The program offers a chance to hear how the sounds that accompany animated worlds resonate with the full force of a symphony orchestra.
