A celebration and discussion of fashion dolls, clothing, and their generational role in educating children about American history.
The conversation, which will include a good dose of nostalgia, will examine fashion dolls and their clothing as storytelling tools, exploring how style, design, and dress have shaped narratives and perceptions of American history and culture.
Actor and writer Mara Wilson will moderate a panel of doll experts and scholars analyzing fashion dolls from paper dolls to American Girl: Dr. Emilie Zaslow, author of Playing with Americas Doll: A Cultural Analysis of the American Girl Collection, American Girl author Valerie Tripp, and American Girls resident historian.
