They will explore the history of the Declaration of Independence from its drafting by Thomas Jefferson to today—revealing the physical and symbolic history of the document that made America.
About Michael Auslin
Michael Auslin is the Payson J. Treat Distinguished Research Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and previously was a professor of history at Yale. His most recent book is National Treasure: How the Declaration of Independence Made America (Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster), which he completed as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the Library of Congress’s John W. Kluge Center.
About Patrick Spero
Dr. Patrick Spero is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Philosophical Society and an award-winning historian who has published four books on the era of the American Revolution. Before returning to the APS as CEO, Dr. Spero was the Executive Director of the George Washington Presidential Library.
