The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis

Sep 12, 2026. 8 p.m.

Legendary trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and his 15-piece big band—The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO)—join the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) for the DC area premiere of Marsalis’ latest work, Symphony No. 5 “Liberty.” Commissioned by the NSO and Wolf Trap Foundation in honor of America250, jazz, blues, and orchestral sounds converge in this rousing celebration of the American story. This performance is part of Wynton Marsalis’ final season as Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and Music Director of JLCO.

Symphony No. 5 “Liberty” is co-commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, DC; Gianandrea Noseda, NSO music director; and Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
