Pieces of a Dream

Formed in Philadelphia in 1976, Pieces of a Dream grew from a teenage trio into one of contemporary jazz’s enduring groups, blending nimble keyboards and rhythm-section grooves with touches of R&B, funk and smooth jazz. The band first caught the attention of saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., who produced its early Elektra albums, including We Are One and Imagine This. Those records introduced signature tracks such as “Mount Airy Groove” and “Fo Fi Fo,” while the group’s 2025 album, We Got This, carries its groove-forward sound into a new chapter. The appeal lies in the mix: jazz musicianship with an inviting pulse and melodies that stay with you.
