Pretty Sick

New York band Pretty Sick turns shoegaze haze and grunge grit into sharp-edged alternative rock, led by singer and bassist Sabrina Fuentes. The group’s latest album, Anarchy, stretches that sound across tracks including “Hyper Independence,” “City Kid” and “UrNewImTrue,” while earlier releases such as Makes Me Sick Makes Me Smile established a knack for pairing noisy guitars with melodic hooks. Pretty Sick’s appeal lies in that push and pull: songs that feel hazy and tuneful one moment, raw and restless the next.
