Tony Woods

Tony Woods is a veteran stand-up comedian whose relaxed, conversational delivery makes room for pauses, detours and unexpected turns. A fixture of Washington, D.C.’s comedy scene, he began performing at the city’s Comedy Cafe and became part of the early wave of comics featured on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. Woods has also appeared on the show in later years, and comedian Dave Chappelle has named him as an important influence. His unhurried approach lets a story wander before the punchline lands, giving his live sets the feel of a funny, unpredictable conversation.
