5 Things to Do at Awesome Con 2026 in Washington, DC
From March 13-15, DC’s Convention Center turns into a massive celebration of geek culture.
More than 70,000 fans will be able to see their favorite stars from comics, films, TV, toys and games throughout Awesome Con, a three-day festival that is Washington, DC’s own Comic Con. Expect plenty of costumed attendees and an array of activities to enjoy during one of the city’s most vibrant annual events. Read below for some highlights and make sure to purchase your badge ASAP.

Enjoy a star-studded celebrity guest roster
There will be no shortage of celebrity talent at Awesome Con this March, including a huge cast reunion of the beloved show Firefly with stars Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Summer Glau. Other cast gatherings from anime classic Death Note and BBC’s Doctor Who will also take place. You can also expect appearances from esteemed actors like George Takei, Gillian Anderson, Parker Posey, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Ron Perlman, Adam Savage and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti!

Check out Romancing DC, a new division of Awesome Con's Book Fair
Romantasy readers—this one’s for you! Get swept up in the passion of your favorite stories with Romancing DC, a mysterious hollow within Awesome Con where magic and romance reign supreme. Meet New York Times-bestselling authors like Sara Beth Durst, Brigid Kemmerer, Melissa de la Cruz and many more. You can also join a movement workshop, do arts and crafts and shop from indie authors and bookish vendors. And the crown jewel? The Luminary Ball on Friday evening, taking place at the historic Anderson House.

Loads of family fun at Awesome Con Jr.
The age of a Kid Badge has risen from 10 to 12, so you can save on your kiddos for two extra years ... which is perfect, because younger fans have a lot to look forward to this year at Awesome Con Jr. Creative Workshops occur all weekend with published children’s book authors like Greeking Out’s Jillian Hughes and Kenny Curtis and Serendipity’s Gabbie Benda. Kids can also look forward to lightsaber training, slime-making, live science experiments, cosplay parades and so much more.

Interactive entertainment & live performances
Fans of anime and Japanese culture will be thoroughly entertained by the Anime Yokocho stage and the Machi Mahou Maid Cafe. Horror and mystery fans can enjoy a haunted experience from Laurel’s House of Horror and an Escape Room experience from Co-Operatives. The Remix stage offers good music and fan activities all weekend long. Of course, the incredible Awesome Con Cosplay Competition will take over on Saturday evening, featuring a Halftime Drag Show!

Pinpalooza & Ribbon Rally
Awesome Con
Pinpalooza returns for collectors with monster-themed Awesome Bot pins in honor of Awesome Con’s 13th anniversary (starts Friday, March 13 ... get it?). Grab the starter pack at Booth 1921 and snag the Merch pin when you spend more than $100. You can then trade with a Staff member for the Staff exclusive to collect all five. Also back this year: Ribbon Rally. Grab official ribbons at locations around the Con to stick on your badge. Fans are also encouraged to create their own ribbons to hand out to fellow con-goers.
