5 Reasons to See the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium

Enjoy the exciting atmosphere of an NFL game this fall and winter

The Washington Commanders are one of the NFL’s most historic franchises. Founded in 1932, the organization has made five Super Bowl appearances and has won five NFL championships in total. The current team is led by superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels and looks to build a new tradition of winning in the nation’s capital, which will once again be the site of their home stadium beginning in 2030.

The city is also abuzz with football fever as it prepares to host the 2027 NFL Draft (April 29 – May 1) on the National Mall.

Ahead of that monumental event, take in a Commanders game at Northwest Stadium this season for the following reasons:

After the Commanders drafted him no. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, quarterback Jayden Daniels took the league by storm. He was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year and led the team to their first NFC Championship Game appearance in 32 years. After struggling through injuries in 2025, Daniels and his favorite running mate, wide receiver Terry McLaurin, are both ready for bounce-back seasons. With University of Maryland alums Chig Okonkwo and Stefon Diggs (also a DMV native) now also in the fold, the Commanders look to field one of the most exciting offenses in the NFL.

The Commanders have playoff aspirations

Led by head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters, the Commanders have reloaded on both sides of the ball in the hopes of returning to the playoffs after a disappointing 2025 season. The team always plays with a rugged tenacity, exemplified by defensive studs such as Frankie Luvu, Da’Ron Payne, Mike Sainristil. That trio welcomes exciting new additions like linebackers Leo Chenal and rookie Sonny Styles, pass rushers Odafe Oweh and K’Lavon Chaisson and defensive backs Nick Cross and Amik Robertson. Expect every game at Northwest Stadium to be competitive, intense and raucous.

Every week of NFL action brings intensity and excitement, but there’s nothing like two division rivals going head-to-head. The Commanders have longstanding beefs with their NFC East competitors, so don’t skip their home games against the New York Giants (Oct. 11), the Philadelphia Eagles (Nov. 1) and the Dallas Cowboys (Week 18, TBD). Washington also welcomes the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (Sept. 27), the Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 8), the Cincinnati Bengals (Nov. 23), the Houston Texans (Dec. 13) and the Atlanta Falcons (Dec. 20).
